Thelma has over 16 years experience as a Psychologist. She is registered by the Psychology Board of Australia, a division of the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and is an Associate Member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

Counselling sessions are customised to meet the unique needs of each person, taking into consideration the complexity of their issues and their personal goals. Thelma’s therapeutic approach is characterised by its holistic, collaborative, and client-centred nature, grounded in empathy and trust. She is deeply committed to helping clients overcome obstacles and empowering them to reach their desired outcomes.
Thelma employs evidence-based therapeutic models and intervention strategies in both short and long-term Counselling, serving clients from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds.

Thelma is an approved Counsellor for Victims Services NSW and can provide Counselling via this service for clients  who have experienced trauma in their lives.

As well as face-to-face Counselling, Thelma can offer Telehealth Counselling session (via telephone, FaceTime, Teams and WhatsApp) to those clients who cannot attend in person due to family commitments, have mobility issues or live in remote or interstate locations. 

When you get in touch, Thelma will arrange a brief phone call to answer any questions and to let you get a feel for whether or not we might work well together.

Models of therapy may include: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Solution Focussed Brief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Couples Therapy (Gottman) etc.

Note: You do not need a referral to see a psychologist, but you will need a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your doctor if you would like to claim a Medicare rebate.

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) from your GP or Psychiatrist you will be entitled to a Medicare Rebate for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. You will need to return to your doctor for a review after the 6th session. 

You may also be eligible to claim a rebate from your private health insurer. Please talk to your insurer about your eligibility, the number of sessions and amount covered. Medicare and private health insurance rebates cannot be claimed for the same session.

Fees paid by EFTPOS machine at the conclusion of the session or by EFT on the same day for Telehealth.
